The Needle's Eye
The Needle's Eye stands in Lee Wood near Wentworth and consists of a pyramidal tower surmounted by a stone urn, pierced by a carriageway flanked by stone seats. In 2011 the Eye has been treated to some maintenance and a good fettling and very nice it looks.
The Needles Eye

The story attached to the building of the Needle's Eye in 1780 is that the Fitzwilliam of his day boasted so much amongst his friends that he could drive his horse and carriage through the eye of a needle, that they challenged him to do so. The wager was on, money was laid and the braggart had to build himself a needle's eye through which to drive. Posterity records that he won the wager - but he was building his own eye so he would wouldn't he!
