Aeroventure
Aeroventure, the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum is based on one of the many new developments in Doncaster. The site is actually that of the World War II RAF Doncaster. It is located less than 5 minutes drive from Junction 3 on the M18.
Most of the museum is under cover and contains a vast array of aviation history. The collection includes:-
- Military Aircraft collection from propeller training aircraft to Mach 2 Jet fighters
- Historic 60 year old RAF buildings including Bellman aircraft hangar and authentic wooden RAF huts
- Helicopter Collection
- History of local RAF Squadrons including 616 (South Yorkshire) Squadron which fought in the Battle of Britain and were the first operational jet squadron and 271 Squadron which took part in D-Day flying Dakotas
- The Aeroventure Flight Simulator Group Room
- Falklands War Exhibition
- WWII Home Front Exhibition
- Local Airfields - then and now including RAF Doncaster, Finningley, Lindholme, Worksop and Firbeck Amateur Radio Society "GB2AIR"
- Aircraft under restoration
