Barnsley
Barnsley Features:
Barnsley is a town some degrees north of Rotherham up the M1. Like Rotherham it is a town with a heavy industrial past, mostly mining which is now gone. Also like Rotherham the Borough is widespread and contains many smaller towns and villages, some pretty, but mostly not. It used to be a very good market town but these days the market is much decayed. The town centre shopping is also decayed but no where near as far as Rotherham. If you get away from the concrete catastrophe of the town centre there are some fine old buildings worth a gander.
