Heritage Inspired
Heritage Inspired works with all heritage faith sites across South Yorkshire, to increase the access to and awareness of their heritage. Heritage Inspired is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the East Peak Innovation Partnership.
"In 2011 Heritage Inspired has worked hard to produce a fascinating CD Rom featuring stunning 350+ photographs of our wonderful churches, together with explanations of how to read there age, what to look for, what symbols mean and much more. It gives visitors the information and skills they need to 'read a church' - to be able to unravel the fascinating history and heritage wrapped up in our ancient churches and discover for themselves these treasure houses of history.
Churches, chapels, mosques, gurudwaras, synagogues and other faith sites are literally 'treasure houses' of history. They may contain ancient carvings both in stone and timber, traces of wall paintings, green men, wonderful roof bosses, gargoyles and dripstone heads, tombs and monuments, stained glass and more."

For the second year running 2011 Heritage Inspired are finalists in the The White Rose Awards:-
"We are really thrilled to announce that FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW we have been shortlisted as a finalist in the 'Best Tourism Experience' section of this year's Welcome To Yorkshire White Rose Awards!!
Following a record breaking number of entries to the White Rose Awards, Welcome to Yorkshire has today revealed which tourism businesses will battle it out for the most prestigious tourism awards in the UK. The winners from which will be announced at a glittering gala awards ceremony on the evening of 10th October at Doncaster Racecourse. David Friesner, SY Area Director for Welcome to Yorkshire, said: "With 11 finalists this year, we have a great chance of bringing back even more winners to South Yorkshire this year! The quality and standard of applications is going ever higher so no mean feat to get 11 through!"
We have been shortlisted specifically for our innovative Heritage Festival, which involves heritage faith sites across South Yorkshire each June. The event involves at least 75 heritage faith sites (of all faiths and denominations) - all throwing open their doors to visitors, organising wonderful events and activities and providing homemade local produce and refreshments. It also includes our brilliant EXPLORE coach trips, which explore four heritage faith sites with our super enthusiastic local heritage officer. The festival attracts around 25000 visitors each year!
HERITAGE INSPIRED is still unique - the only heritage faith tourism initiative in the UK! We work with all heritage faith sites in South Yorkshire, and now some areas of West Yorkshire. We currently have over 150 partner sites, of all faiths and denominations. We work with them to develop their interpretation, publicity and visitor welcome.
