Clifton Lane

Clifton Lane runs from the lights at Clifton Corner where Doncaster Road, Doncaster Gate and Wharncliffe Street meet, out of town in a south easterly direction. One one side there is Clifton Park and the Museum, whilst on the other side there are various houses and Rotherham's one and only high rise. Some of the houses are large, individually designed and probably date from about the 1880s. Further along there are some modern flats but the style of these is not obtrusive.

A number of streets, mostly of old houses, a lot of which are terraced, run from the east end of Clifton Lane down the hill towards Wellgate. These include Albany Street, Aldred Street, Allan Street, Clifton Mount and Park Mount. These are either blocked to through traffic or have funny one-way systems.
