Roman Catholic Churches
Even after it became legal in Britain to hold and attend Roman Catholic services, Catholics in Rotherham tended to keep a very low profile. There have been several influxes of Catholics into the Rotherham area from the Irish navvies brought in to build the canals and roads in the 18th Century to the settlement of Poles and Czechs after the Second World War. Roman Catholicism is still a thriving religion in the town. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Hallam serves South Yorkshire and parts of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. These are the churches that I have found in the borough of Rotherham.
