Town Hall Open Day 2011
Rotherham Town Hall has one of its occasional open day on Wednesday 26 October 2011. The event was hosted by this year's Mayor, Shaun Wright and the Mayoress, Lisa Wright. Yours truly didn't get to meet them: they were busy with more important guests. Ah well!

The Wedding Room and Garden Room were on display. Many of the people were very interested in details of the Weddings and Receptions available here. Tea, coffee and cake were available and there were were charity stalls raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Care and The Alzheimer's Society; I'm sure there was another but I've forgotten what. Each year the Mayor nominates one or more charities to receive gifts from the Mayor's Charity fund and I guess that these were this year's choices. The other is R Children's Trust.
Town Hall staff were on hand to discuss matters and show you around. Very interesting they were too. Thanks very much to everyone involved. Also there was Henry Cryer, who is the Doncaster Town Cryer (Rotherham doesn't have one) who went crying around the town and is available to cry at your wedding or other important event.
As if cake wasn't enough, there was entertainment for the children provided by Sparky Mark and competitons with a Halloween theme.
Personally I went for a nosy round to see what RMBC had spent my money on. I have to say that is was a very expensive refurbishment but it really does look good.
