Maltby in Bloom

Maltby always has a great deal of interest in things horticultural. Besides the horticultural show there are prizes for Maltby in Bloom. I have seen no details but suggest you contact Maltby Council.

The contest is run each year by Rotherham Chamber in conjunction with Rotherham Borough Council. Prizes are awarded the winners in the five main categories:-

I have been unable to find a contact address so try Rotherham Town Centre Co-ordinator Tel. 44 (0) 1709 382121 (switchboard) and ask for the co-ordinator's office.

Yorkshire in Bloom

For 2008 I trawled through the PDF lists trying in vain to find any award made to anybody in the Rotherham area. Perhaps I didn't look far enough but there was a mention of Scholes but I think this is Scholes in Leeds and the Three Tuns at Stainton which is strictly in Doncaster won an award. Yorkshire in Bloom 2008 the village of Ravenfield won Gold in the Small Village Category.

Past winners have been the village of Thorpe Salvin which won the 2000 Yorkshire in Bloom Competition. The village was National Champions 1992, 1994, & 2002. Thorpe Salvin has won the Gold Medal for 2002 in the Entente Florale. Also Ravenfield Old Village received the gold award in the Yorkshire in Bloom competition for 2005 for best summer display in the small village section. They also received a joint award for the spring display which means that the village has won the trophy for best entry overall in their section as well as an award for being the Most Improved Village.
