William Hague
Politician, Speaker & Writer

William HagueWho is he I hear you ask? Why he was the leader of the Tory party just in case you've spent the last few years on the moon. I don't remember ever seeing Billy the Fizz about town, I expect he was too busy delivering pop. I do remember the pop however - they used to do a very nice pineapple flavour that I've never been able to find anywhere else.

I remember the teenage speech at the Tory Party conference. It received quite a bit of publicity at the time but we all thought he'd grow out of it. Pity!

(Oh dear! I've looked at my original research thinking that the rest of poor Billy's career must be somewhere, but its not there. I guess I must have mislaid it accidentally on purpose, I suppose if I look hard enough I can find it - somewhere.)

RIP 09/06/01 at least as far as Billy's career as leader of the Tory party. As for anything else we shall just have to wait and see.

September 2004 - I have read somewhere that William Hague commands very high fees as an after dinner speaker (not as much as John Major who was Prime Minister after all or Cherie Blair who has jumped on other bandwagons). He has also written a book, recently published, a biography of William Pitt the Younger, also a biography of William Wilberforce.

On 6 December 2005, David Cameron was elected leader of the Conservative party. William became Shadow Foreign Secretary and the Senior Member of the Shadow Cabinet, effectively the deputy leader of the Conservative Party.

Following the General Election in May 2010, upon Cameron becoming the Prime Minister, William Hague became First Secretary of State and Foreign Secretary.

William married Ffion Jenkins in 1997.
