Adult Learning
Adult learning and training is a major feature of Education. Whether you want to learn how to use a computer or to extend your skills for the modern workplace there are literally loads of schools, organisations and centres offering training of all sorts throughout the borough. My brief flirtations with two of three of them during periods of unemployment a few years ago did not leave me impressed.
My search of the World Wide Web trying to find websites relating to training opportunities, centres and services in Rotherham found only a couple of websites. Here are some of the organisations offering training that I have found in the Rotherham area.
Some of these provide courses for individuals seeking to better themselves and their employment prospects. Some organise training schemes for companies wanting to improve the skills of their staff. I have not differentiated.

"People from the Rotherham area may qualify for fully funded NVQ'S at a level 2 depending on their qualifications. These are funded by the NYLC (North Yorkshire Learning Consortium) and through the LSC (Learning Skills Council). We can also offer skills for life in Maths and English. We have our own laptops and are hoping to offer our service within local community centres and local businesses."
There are many, many more, in fact probably there are more training agencies in the Rotherham area than there are building societies and charity shops in the town centre. Lots of agencies, loadsa training, few jobs and even fewer opportunities (except in the job training field).
