The Rotherham Walking Festival
8 - 16 May 2010
The Rotherham Walking Festival began in 1999 and has been successfully held every year since them except for the time of Foot and Mouth disease. There is a week or more of guided walks around the borough taking in picturesque countryside, local attractions and places of interest. There is something for everyone including nature and Heritage Trails and events for ramblers, walkers and staggerers like me, with something for all ages, interests and levels of ability. There were a wide variety of events organised for 2009 including Guided Walks, Entertainment, Special Events, Boat Trips, Fayres, Crafts: far too many to list here. The festival hosts numerous walks with a mixture of lengths in time and distance, for varying abilities from easy walks to hard rambles.
The festival has been moved forward for 2010 and the sponsored Rotherham Round Walk will be held on Sunday 16 May 2010 as the culmination of the festival.
Every walk will have people who have a thorough knowledge of the route on hand who will help and provide details of interest along the way. Walks vary in length and gradient as well as women only and family friendly walks, so there is a walk to suit everyone!
