Rotherham Round Walk
The Competition
The Rotherham Round Walk is a 25 mile walk through some of the best and some of the worst of the countryside surrounding Rotherham. It is an event organised by Rotherham Rotary Club to raise money for charity. It will be back in the Rotherham Walking Festival with a shorter 12 mile Family Ramble or a 5k Fun Walk over part of the course as alternative options for those who cannot manage 25 miles.
The walk starts in All Saints Square at 9am and finishes back there again any time from 5 hours later to 5 days (when even the search parties have given up and gone to the pub). The shorter walks cover part of the full course.
It is expected that the next sponsored walk will be held in 2012. Forms and more information will be available from www.rotherhamrotary.org.uk. PDF or .doc so you have a choice.

The Rotherham Round Walk is also a recognised Long Distance Footpath, marked on the latest OS Explorer maps. It starts and finishes near All Saints' Parish Church in the town centre, and may be walked any time in full or in part. The complete 25-mile route is a complete clockwise circuit from the northwest of the town round to the southwest. The majority of the walk is on public footpaths over varied terrain. It is mostly fairly easy easy walking including one or two short steepish climbs.
