Guided Walks
Besides the walks organised by the various walking clubs and the
Rotherham Walking Festival there are regular walks, tracks and trails all over the borough set
up by different organisations. If you like walking in company and the chance to make new
friends there are plenty to choose from. Where I've found contact details I've listed
them here but this is by no means an exhaustive list.
Green Spaces Events
There is a regular programme of events organised by RMBC's Environment & Development Services' Green Spaces Unit in and around the parks in Rotherham. Amongst these are informative and interesting walks. They are listed on the month by month pages in the Events Diary. A new leaflet listing the events for the next twelve months is available about the end of March each year and can be obtained from libraries, ranger units and the Rotherham Visitor Centre, or telephone The Green Spaces Unit 01709 822453.
Green Walks
These walks are organised by Rotherham Primary Care Trust (Health Action Zone) to try and encourage a bit of healthy living. These walks start at Rotherham Visitor Centre in All Saints Square at 12.30pm and take approximately 40 - 60 minutes.

Walks for Women
The women only walks were set up for women who are apprehensive or afraid to walk alone. The aim is to encourage them to walk with other like-minded women in a safe and friendly environment. They encourage exercise and companionship. Essentials are a sense of humour, a waterproof coat, good walking boots and a packed lunch. There are walks in the Rotherham, Sheffield and Doncaster areas. There are also organised bike rides for those so inclined.
