Heritage Trails
Canklow Heritage Trail
The Canklow Heritage Trail was officially opened by The Mayor of Rotherham Hilda Jack in December 2005. I'd spotted new signs and improved paths when I took the dog for a stroll in Boston Park a few weeks earlier. I'd even stopped to read some of the signs.
The trail takes about an hour (1.6 miles) and goes through Canklow Woods. There are fifteen information posts along the trail starting at the Boston Park entrance. These detail the history of the woods and of Rotherham itself. The trail also passes over Canklow Earthworks a scheduled ancient monument.
A leaflet is available from Rotherham Visitor Centre, 40 Bridgegate, Rotherham, S60 1PQ. Tel. 44 (0)1709 835904, Email ticatrotherham.gov.uk (remember to replace at with @).

Herringthorpe Heritage Trail
A new heritage trail through Valley Park and Herringthorpe Wood was opened by the Mayor of Rotherham on 14 June 2009. A surfaced path and interpretational panels have been set up to improve access and provide imformation about the woodlands.
