Sport in Rotherham

Sport is very serious business indeed in Rotherham with football taking top position. There is one professional football league side in the Town, namely Rotherham United, nicknamed The Millers or the Merry Millers because they used to play at Millmoor. There are however many Sunday League clubs, pub sides, working mens' club sides and Rotherham has a very strong under 18s focus with teams for both boys and girls from about 5 years old onwards. The only omission is women's football because I have not seen any sides advertised or playing for several years.

You will have to go to Doncaster for the horse racing or Sheffield if you want to go to the dogs.
