Bowling
There are facilities for crown green bowling in most urban parks. I know there are good greens and a popular club in Clifton Park, and in Boston Park and another behind Rawmarsh Leisure in Rotherham Centre. A new bowling green has opened at Wath Leisure in Rotherham Centre. There is no indoor bowling club in Rotherham although it has been a frequent request from the bowling community in the borough. Several people I know go to Doncaster to find indoor bowling and indeed Rotherham Borough Council allocate money to the indoor club there to help maintain facilities. There is only one ten pin bowling facility in Rotherham.

Ten Pin Bowling
When this game is posh it is called Ten Pin Bowling when it's not its called Skittles. At one time every tavern had a Skittle Alley but they all seem to have gone these days. It is a very old game. There is a tale, probably apocryphal, that the game then called Ninepins was banned because the government of Henry VIII were worried the working classes were spending too much time playing and not working. Since Ninepins was banned some clever person added a tenth pin and re-named the game Tenpins so it was no longer illegal. Makes you feel proud to be British!
