Old Moor Wetland Centre
Wombwell Ings & Gypsy Marsh

The Old Moor Wetland Centre is not strictly in Rotherham but seems to be included in all the Rotherham lists so I have put it here. The Old Moor wetlands are situated in the Dearne Valley and consists of 250 acres of varied habitats for wildlife, including open water, marshes reed beds and grassland. There is a visitors centre, bird feeding garden, play and picnic areas, bird watching hides. No dogs which is why I have never been there. A step or two west along the Dearne Valley are further wildlife areas at Wombwell Ings and Gypsy Marsh.

In November 2002 large sums of money, I believe from the lottery, have been granted to develop the wildlife habitats in the Dearne Valley and some of this will be spent on new facilities here.
