Rotherham is a town full of green areas. Some are merely places of dereliction, some have been deliberately left that way to encourage wildlife and provide the green lungs of the town. Whatever the case there are interesting and sometimes rare plants and insects growing on all of them. In 2009 all these have been noted under a survey for the Core Strategy and some parts have been earmarked for housing development.
These green area don't seem to fit in the particular categories such as Heritage Woodlands or SSSIs or LNRS but are none the less green. There are many more besides this so don't be disappointed if your local patch is not included.
