Victoria or Rosehill Park
Victoria Park is often called Rosehill Park by old Rawmarshians. After many years of neglect a great deal of time and effort, not to mention lots of money, have been spent both on the park and Park Hall.
Rosehill Park was once the private grounds to Rosehill Hall. The Hall was built around 1830 by the Firth family. Park and house were acquired by the local council and opened to the public in 1901 to honour Queen Victoria's 1897 diamond jubilee, hence the alternative name. The hall is now fully refurbished and is home to the Rawmarsh and Parkgate Partnership Ltd. and is used as a community resource. The park covers almost 14 hectares with parkland and flower beds.

Money has also been spent on the park. The old paddling pool and play areas were removed in 2006 and new paths installed. The last time I went up there the outbuildings were still looking pretty tatty.

I'm pretty sure that the bandstand is new. Actually it's not, it has just been done up very well. Various bands, brass and rock play here from time to time. The walled garden now contains a model railway constructed by the Rotherham and District Model Engineers' Society. Rides are available on this during the summer months.
