There are seven sites within the Borough of Rotherham that have been notified by English Nature as Sites of Special Scientific Interest. So far I have only found two of them. 2003 Got them all.
Sometimes abbreviated to SSSI, these sites represent or contain the best examples of particular species of plants, animal and insects also habitats, geology or geomorphology and they are subject to protection from specified operations which would be damaging to the scientific interest.
