Country Parks
There are four country parks in the Borough of Rotherham. The former reservoirs at Thrybergh and Ulley have been turned into country parks where there is a balance between the enjoyment of the people who visit and the functions of the parks as havens for wildlife.
Part of the former estate of Ravenfield Hall at Ravenfield with its numerous ponds is also designated a country park. This is is a place for walkers and fisherman as well as our finned, furred and feathered friends but there are no visitor facilities.
The pit and open cast site at Rother Valley has been redeveloped as Rother Valley Country Park. Here there are superb facilities for water-sports, a craft centre and café and much else to interest the visitors who come from not only South Yorkshire but all over.
