Traditional Dancing

I don't know if they teach dancing in schools these days but at Junior School and to a lesser extent at Senior School traditional dancing was a regular part of the curriculum in my schooldays. Since I'm blessed with two left feet I haven't danced formally since then.

There are some traditional dance groups in and around Rotherham. If you are interested in trying your feet at a bit of morris dancing or clog dancing you could give one of these a go.

Harthill Morris
"Harthill Morris is a men only side, which performs traditional dances from the Cotswold area. The club is based in the Village of Harthill and dances at; pubs, carnivals, weddings, in fact, any function that welcomes the joy of tradition English dancing." The website harthillmorris.org.uk has gone missing October 2009 and I can find no further trace of them.
Lord Conyers Morris Men
"We meet weekly on Wednesdays from the beginning of September to the end of April at Wales Methodist Chapel, and dance out in and around South Yorkshire on Wednesdays between May and August." Email lordconyersattiscali.co.uk (remember to replace at with @). Visit the website www.lordconyers.org.uk.
Maltby Phoenix Sword Dancing

Three Shires Clog Dancers

The Three Shires are a team of ladies that meet every Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Old School room beside All Hallows Church, Harthill or Tel. 44 (0)1909 770589.
