Gambling
I have read that gambling is the fastest growing Leisure in Rotherham activity in Britain. There is no racecourse or casino in Rotherham in which you can fritter away your hard-earned dosh - you can go to Doncaster or Sheffield for those things. However there are plenty of betting shops and not all of them are the sawdust-strew, spittoon infested, smoky holes they used to be. Gosh some of them even have coffee machines and seats these days - they may even have ladies loos! I am not going to list them all here, but there is one on a street near you.
Then there are bingo clubs:–
I'm sure that there must be some other local bingo halls still in operation but if so I have not found them.
Bingo is played in most of the working men's clubs as well. There are plenty of these in the phone book. Some of these operate a strict members, associate members and their guests policy - some do not. Some say new members welcome. It's probably best to phone up and check before going.
