Car Boot Sales

When the rest of the country were all rushing to Car Boot Sales fifteen or twenty years ago there were simply none to attend in Rotherham or indeed in South Yorkshire. Rather than applauding enterprise and drawing comfort from the large number of visitors these events generated (and the potential money spent in the area) all the local authorities around here used their market charters (usually granted in the Middle Ages) to suppress even the most worthy charitable events.

Things are somewhat better these days although from time to time threats are still aimed at the local booters by authority. Car boot sales held regularly around here are:–

Newman School

Schools, pubs and various organisations hold car boot sales at times throughout the year. Where I've found details they are listed in the events diary.

There is a vast Sunday Market and car boot sale held at Oldcotes, just over the border in Nottinghamshire. Held all year on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays though without cover I'd imagine very few booters on a cold winter's day.

For more information about any licenses needed to hold car boot sales in Rotherham or for more information Tel. 44 (0)1709 365021.
