Operatic Societies are alive and well and living in an area of Rotherham near you. Some of them have now re-branded themselves Musical Theatre Groups as their repertoire mostly included operettas and musicals. In fact Grand Opera is not normally performed at all: voices are rarely good enough to cope with the demands and frankly the good people of Rotherham are likely to avoid Die Walkürie or Don Giovanni like a dose of the plague.
Dinnington Operatic Society
The Dinnington Operatic Society is a well established organisation in the area and has proudly achieved a reputation for producing great shows. Phoenix Amateur Operatic Society
