Live Music Venues
The live music scene in Rotherham used to be pretty good. Sadly in 2011 the credit crunch, recession or whatever you want to call it, together with the smoking ban, has hit some of the venues, particularly the pubs, very hard. Live music concerts are held at the theatres in Rotherham; Rotherham Civic Theatre, Montgomery Hall in Wath upon Dearne and occasionally at the Lyric, Dinnington. Other venues include :-

Many Working Men' Clubs have live music acts. Some of these operate a strict members, associate members and their guests policy - some do not. Some say new members welcome. Many pubs had live music acts on regularly or from time to time; sadly many of them no longer do so. The Number 10 on Wellgate was a regular live music venue for many years but not only has it closed but when I strolled by the whole place had been gutted.

Open Air Concerts
In 2011 there have been a number of live music concerts held a la Glastonbury. Places that come to mind the Party in the Park in Rosehill Victoria Park at Rawmarsh, Rotherham Fake Festival in Clifton Park and concerts at a number of local fetes or galas including Brinsworth and Bramley, for example. A few open air pub concerts have also been held with the Star Inn at Rawmarsh and the Three Magpies at Brinsworth coming to mind.
