Classical Music
There is no great tradition of classical music in Rotherham. I have found no orchestras, ensembles, not even a string quartet based in the town or borough. There are of course classically trained musicians and soloists who accompany various choirs or theatrical performances.
From time to time there are classical concerts and recitals but the only Classical Music event in town is the Wentworth Music Festival held each September since 2000 when it was described as Millenium Festival. It proved very popular and has been held each year since then. A variety of concerts take place in Holy Trinity Church, Wentworth, Rotherham. Individual tickets (various prices) or combined tickets are available from 01709 527713 or the Village Shop on Main Street. Next Festival is expected to take place in September 2013 and the tickets are likely to be avaiable from the above by mid-Aughust.
