Writers' Groups
Many, many years ago I used to belong to a group of
writers that met in Rotherham Library. I soon realised that, rather than promoting writing and
writers, the group was more about the formation of little, acid cliques and acrimonious
wrangling between individuals. Perhaps things are a bit more civilized nowadays. These are the
writer's groups that I have found meeting in the Rotherham area in 2005. If you belong to

Rotherham Metro Writers
They exist to encourage writers of all denominations to share and show their work. From
March 2008 this group meets at Rotherham Trades Club, Greasbrough Road, Rotherham. Tel.

Rotherham Writers Group (1982)
Creative Writing (and Socialising) every Wednesdays 1.30 3pm WEA Learning Centre,
Ship Hill. Small charge.
Swinton Community Libraries Writers and Young Writers Groups
They meet - guess where - Swinton Community Library every Wednesday 9.45am - noon to help
writers develop their talent.
Mexborough Quills Creative Writing Group
A lively group of like-minded people interested in all forms of writing meet every other
Saturday afternoon in Mexborough Library from 1.00 pm until 3.30 pm to tap into their
creative spark, so come along and get your ideas flowing. Everyone welcome from 9 - 90.

Wath Writers
Wath Writers meets each Monday from 6.00pm - 8.00pm upstairs in the library. Anyone is
