Rotherham Art Gallery
Jan 2012 The building in which this is housed will soon be closed as the various facilities move to the new council offices at Riverside House or elsewhere. I'm sure that the gallery is now closed but I am uncertain as to its future.
Rotherham Art Gallery is part of the complex of buildings which includes the libraries, the York and Lancaster Museum, a café, and meeting rooms that form Rotherham Arts Centre. There are no permanent exhibitions of art here but there are rotating displays so if your are thinking of Rotherham Art Gallery as a northern equivalent of the Tate - forget it!
There are three exhibition areas - a large main gallery for the big exhibitions, and upstairs corridor gallery and an upstairs show case. Unless things have changed since I exhibited there these can be booked by artists and craftspeople (the show case used to be free but the Arts Centre levied a commission on whatever it sold on your behalf).

Open Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm, Sat 9am - 3.45pm. Closed Bank holidays and Christmas New Year period. Free admission although there may be an charge for certain events.
