Crafts
There are many people in Rotherham who quietly follow their crafts, whether it is knitting or model-making: painting or sculpture. At one time it was quite difficult to access supplies for many of these pastimes in the town, but things have improved. Personally the opening of the Range was a real boon for me as I can get all sorts of stuff for painting locally and reasonably priced.
Card Making
I've given this craft a particular mention as it seems to have many adherents in Rotherham but no societies that I have found. Supplies can be bought at The Range at Parkgate, Wath Markets on Wednesdays and upstairs in Wath Market Hall. The latter also runs workshops and classes.

Craft Fairs
Craft Fairs are a bit thin on the ground these days. This is not surprising as Rotherham folk are very reluctant to spend their hard earned brass on frivolities. They may visit craft fairs, they may look, they may admire loud and long but will they buy, will they heck as like! There used to be a number of regular craft fairs held in and around Rotherham. I used to sell crafts at most of them but gave up more than a decade ago because frankly it was flogging a dead horse trying to sell to folk from Rotherham. There are still some going and these are the ones that I have found.
Regular Craft Fairs round and about Rotherham are organised by the Northern Arts and Crafts Guild and these are regularly held at:
- Cannon Hall Museum, Cawthorne, Barnsley
- Cusworth Hall, Doncaster

Other Information
An antiques and craft centre has opened at the old Toll Bar pub in Maltby. You can buy here but for craftspeople seeking an outlet you can rent space here too. Tel. 44 (0)1709 814484. Noticing this has prompted me to look around and ther seems to be a similar place in Swinton.
