Public Art in Rotherham

A gentleman by the name of Dave Ball has been in touch. He was working on a project to record sculpture and monuments in South Yorkshire including the Borough of Rotherham. In 2007 the project is substantially complete.

Now I'll bet that you never thought that heap of stone and concrete in your local car park was classed as a sculpture. You know the one don't you - you wondered what the council were wasting your money on when it was installed and you try not to hit it every time you drive in. Well this is the sort of thing they are looking for, along with war memorials, statues, old crosses, plaques, engraved stonework, clocks etc.

Surprisingly enough Dave has found plenty and there are simply too many for me to mention here.

You can view those so far recorded in Rotherham at their website Rotherham Index.
