Rotherham - the Unofficial Website's Message board is now closed due to lack of usage. You
can read all messages left here to January 2005. Any eccentricities of spelling or grammar belong to the emailer. All right I have plenty of my own but I'm not responsible for

Judging by the amount of spam that is now being sent to my old email address the javascript that I used to protect these email addresses has been well and truly broken by the spiders. I
have therefore replaced '@' in these email addresses with 'at'. If you wish to contact anybody here please remember to change it back.

Message: Meadow Hall School
I went to Meadow Hall School as a little 'un and although I know it's been pulled (shame!) I wonder if there is anyone on your website who went there at some time in the dim and
distant past. Also are there any photos of the school and has anyone any memories of the school that they can share with an ex-Rotherhamite now living down South? I was there from 1944
until 1948 when Mr Schonut was the Headmaster.

Message: Subject: Catcliffe
I am trying to find some pics / photos of the old pit houses that use to be on Frederick Street , Catcliffe. I used to spend the weekends with my Grandparents who lived there in the
late 60's - early 70's ... also my mum ( Goodwin) lived there when she was young. Any help would be appreciated.

Message: Subject: Re:Waleswood Pit
I am trying to contact anyone who worked at Waleswood pit around 1947-1949. My Mother was a typist there and kept diaries about the strike of 1948, when the miners had a sit-in below
ground (even had pancakes sent down for Shrove Tuesday!) Regards Elaine

Have you any on file that you could send me? Ideally I would like any images from Victorian times up until 1950's.

Message: Greetings from vancouver. I noticed a head stone for Arthur Hickman when I visited Rotherham Herringthorpe Cemetery- a flying visit and after many years. Mr . Hickman worked
in the drawing office at Guest and Chrimes. I was a printer there, aged about 16 years. He was a very fine artist and had officially drawn the last of the trams at the old tram sheds. I
wonder if his work has been documented - if anyone else remembers him. He was kind and gentle and showed me how to correctly write numerals. He lived at East Dene with his wife and
always wore a rain-coat and carried a small case. I know so little about him - his humility inspires me to keep his memory alive.
