Maltby Shopping
One website has the laconic comment "Maltby has a selection of shops and services."
This statement is rather more than appears on other many websites.
As one who lived in Maltby thirty years ago, I can say that the quality and variety of shops did not impress me then. Several drives through on my way somewhere else in 2010, left me equally unimpressed. Given the vastness of the surrounding housing estates, I have to assume that a considerable number of Maltby residents shop elsewhere.
The shops in Maltby are strung out all along the A631 (High Street) with a few in other places: there is no clear and compact centre. There are several supermarkets in the town, the most notable being a fairly new Tesco in the Arndale Centre on High Street. There are also several local SPAR shops round and about. Whilst some business have packed up and gone there are still some that were trading 30 years ago.
