Business
There plenty of all these things in Rotherham in the 21st Century, but precious little of the heavy industries for which the town was, for want of a better description, famous. More than ninety international companies have set up business in the Rotherham area. Whether you are based in Rotherham or thinking of moving your business into the borough there are plenty of places to get help and these are listed at Business Information & Links. If you want a craft workshop or a high-tech factory, a cosy little office or a state of the art workplace, a nice corner shop or a store, you can find them all in Rotherham.
Rotherham Business Features looks at some aspects of business in Rotherham including the vexed question of parking, town centre initiatives and some of the schemes that are under way at present. I have to brutally frank here and say that despite the initiatives by the Council, Rotherham town centre is still suffering. High rents demanded by landlords who sit upon their properties in the hope of future capital gains rather than rent them out for reasonable sums over reasonable periods of time don't help.
There is a Jobs in Rotherham page for any of you looking for work which has a set of links and addresses for you to contact.
Whilst many of the old heavy industries are gone, and a lot else besides, there are still some firms that have been around a long time in Rotherham. You can visit then at Some of the Old Survivors. There is also a short look at some of the New Businesses that have decided to give it a go in Rotherham.
There are pages about Shopping in Rotherham which looks at some of the shops in various parts of the Borough.
I've trimmed down my pages about the Future of Rotherham, which, you, my visitors obviously found very boring as they were little visited, but you can still find some information here.
Any information which you cannot find here may be accessible through one or other of the Business Directories about Rotherham. I say may because some of these are not kept up to date.
Rotherham 2012
The beginning of 2012 sees the visit of the Wrecking Ball to Rotherham. January sees the Rank Hovis Mill and Crinoline House undergoing demolition. Other Council buildings will follow when the offices finish moving into Riverside House later in the year. A very large new Tesco Store is planned for the site.
Rotherham United's new ground, cleverly named the New York Stadium, is coming along nicely and is due to open about July 2012.
